It’s June, which means the beginning of summer art fairs! I’ve got a packed schedule this year, and lots of fun updates I am just itching to share. You can check out the first big surprise at the St. Anthony Park Art Fair this weekend — I’m debuting a brand-new booth design as part of a visual refresh for Fille de Cuivre!
Booth design is a balance between aesthetics, merchandising, and portability. Will you go all-in on a beautiful booth that means carting heavy equipment and displays over grassy, uneven terrain? Can you balance good merchandising and marketing techniques against an aesthetic that feels unique and recognizable? Will any of your booth layout designs actually fit in the standard 10-foot by 10-foot booth space, much less in your car? Coming up with a design you like and can stand to haul to 8-10 shows a year is a challenge!

Nearly every year, I tweak my booth design a little bit. I’ve had several shifting designs, with lessons learned from the previous iterations. My first few booth designs had too many heavy items, cluttered displays, and a disregard for placing items where they’d sell best. Every version of my booth has been better, but I’m glad to be changing things up completely.

This was my very first booth design!
This year, I have the advantage of graduating from my previous art fair vehicle (RIP, my Ford Focus) to a larger one. This has created some new opportunities to move to lighter, larger, displays that I’ve wanted to try for years. I’m shifting away from multiple heavy tables in favor of some cute vertical grid displays that are lightweight, portable, and offer more space to bring in new products without creating visual clutter. The new grid displays also create more open space in the booth for visitors to move around comfortably.
I like to do a preview set up indoors without my tent so I can work out the designing kicks without having to drag all my displays in and out multiple times. This year, I completely took over our dining room, much to the horror of my husband and our cat. You can get a sense from the photos how different this is to my past booth designs!

Please enjoy this little sneak peak of Fille de Cuivre’s new look! I’ll be debuting some new products each month this summer, so make sure to look for the latest newsletter updates to be the first in the know!
